The Aparthotel Adagio Nantes Centre is located on Allée du Commandant Charcot, almost opposite the TGV station tracks. You first notice the glass facade, then, looking up toward the upper floors, the towers of the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, which rise a few hundred meters away.

You push open the door. Reception is open day and night, and someone is always there to help, whether it’s for a lost key or information about the tram. That is often the first thing noticed by those who arrive late, after a delayed train.

As you go up to the floors, the studios open onto light wood flooring, white walls warmed by ochre touches, and a few lamps placed here and there rather than a single ceiling light. You set down your suitcases and look out the window: depending on the floor, you can see the castle or the rooftops of the city center.

The kitchenette takes up an entire wall. Ceramic hobs, microwave, coffee maker, and sometimes a dishwasher depending on the size of the studio. You can make yourself a coffee in the morning without going downstairs, or try a local recipe with what you brought back from Talensac market, ten minutes away on foot.

The bathroom often separates the bathtub and shower, a sensible choice for spaces that remain compact. As for housekeeping, daily servicing is not systematic: cleaning is mainly done during the week, a pace designed for business stays. For a three-night weekend, it’s best to simply ask for extra towels upon arrival.

In the morning, a buffet is served on the ground floor for an additional charge, free for children under sixteen. In the evening, however, there is no restaurant on site: you go out for dinner in the neighborhood, toward La Vacherie or Bouffay, or come back with something to cook in the studio, which, for many, remains one of the attractions of an aparthotel.

In the basement, a gym remains accessible from six in the morning to eleven at night, with a freely accessible sauna right next door. Some go there before heading out to explore the ramparts, others after a day of appointments at the business corner on the ground floor.

Outside, the tram passes a few streets away, the Loire is not far, and the castle, with its moats and inner courtyards, is best visited at the end of the day when the light grazes the stones.

A tip: book a courtyard-facing room rather than a station-facing one if you sleep early, and keep your breakfast ticket, as it will be asked for again at the morning buffet.
