Appart'City Nantes Quais de Loire makes no secret of itself as soon as you step off the tram: across the street, the Grand Elephant turns on itself in the middle of the old industrial halls, and the Loire flows just behind. You set down your bags facing one of the city’s most photographed scenes, without having had to look for long.

The Chantiers Navals station drops travelers off two minutes on foot from the entrance. In the evening, the neighborhood changes its face. The cranes go dark, the terraces of the Hangar à bananes come to life, and silence falls surprisingly quickly in the upper floors of the aparthotel. You might expect the noise of a city center: that is not the case.

One thing to note, however: in summer, in the most exposed rooms, the air can become heavy in the absence of air conditioning. An open window on the Loire side or a backup fan is usually enough to get through a decent night.

In the morning, the buffet opens at 6:30 a.m. and remains served until 10 a.m., a real window for late risers. Warm pastries, artisanal jams, fresh fruit, a few savory dishes. The only downside is that this breakfast comes at an extra cost on top of the base rate; it is best to plan for it when booking so you do not have to think about it on site.

Those who do not feel like cooking will find a fast-food counter on the ground floor, takeaway pizzas included, and a vending machine available at any hour for late-night snacks. A bicycle room lets you leave your ride safely, handy for following the Loire to the coast on a fine day.

At reception, open day and night, the staff often act as improvised guides: a route, a good tip, a map of the neighborhood handed over without your having to ask for it.

One final piece of advice, picked up on site: it is better to arrive from the quay side rather than the street side for evening check-in, as the entrance is easier to spot once night has fallen over the neighboring construction site.
