Campanile Nantes Centre - Saint Jacques stretches along Boulevard Emile Gabory, south of Île de Nantes, a few minutes’ walk from the Palais des Congrès. It is most often reached via Busway line 4, which stops directly in front of the entrance, or by car, by looking for a space between the above-ground parking area and the nearby underground car park.

From the lobby onward, the welcome is straightforward. Reception remains open day and night, which matters for anyone arriving late after a delayed flight. The staff speak several languages and take the time to point guests toward the Busway, the historic center, or the Château des ducs de Bretagne, a little over three kilometers away.

As you go up the floors, the rooms are surprisingly spacious. The bedding has been renewed in recent years, and is rather firm, with a memory foam mattress. The bathrooms are roomy, equipped with a rain shower. Storage, however, is rather limited in some rooms: something to keep in mind if you are traveling with a lot of luggage.

On the ground floor, the Coffee area acts as a buffer between the lobby and the bar. You can browse the press there, have a coffee while waiting for an appointment, or linger late in the evening when everything around is closed. The restaurant, for its part, offers a buffet-style formula at lunch and dinner, as well as a more classic menu, with a shaded terrace in summer. At weekends, the dining room closes: a chance to go a little farther, toward the city-center bistros or the banks of the Erdre, for a Nantes-style meal.

In the morning, the buffet breakfast starts early, from 6:30 a.m. on weekdays, a little later on weekends. Pastries, eggs, cold cuts, fresh juices: enough to get you through the day before heading off to explore the Machines de l’Île or the Jules Verne Museum.

For parking, which is paid, a word of caution is in order: it cannot be reserved in advance and depends on availability upon arrival. It is better to aim for a late-afternoon arrival rather than in the evening, to be sure of parking without having to circle around.

One final tip, gathered on site: ask for a room facing the inner courtyard rather than the boulevard. Sleep is much quieter there.
